Sponsor A Child In Africa

sponsor a child in africa

We all know about Africa.  It’s in the news a lot.  Diseases, civil war, no food, no water… the list is a mile long.

But, have you ever thought about the children in Africa?  What is their situation like?  We hear about food shortages on the evening news, but do you immediately picture a child?  I sure don’t.  When you see images of a really poor and dirty person, do you think how that lifestyle is effecting that person’s kids?  Not immediately - right?

See - that’s the crazy thing.  Children in Africa are the most vulnerable of the population.  They need the most protection because children can’t protect themselves.  But, because we’re adults (assuming the people reading this blog are), we tend to envision someone similar to ourselvs in a situation that’s being described - like pictuing someone starving for food.  Thinking about the child’s situation becomes an afterthought, when it should be the most important.  Am I wrong?

World Concern works all over the place in Africa (see interactive map of where we work). Through our base in Kenya, Africa you can sponsor a child in Africa .  It only costs $28 dollars per month.  That breaks down to (pre-appology for the stereo-typcical phrase) less than a dollar a day!

First of all NEVER refer to Africa as a \messed up place.\ Certainly, there are some issues in Africa, like the poor health in certain milieus-notice I said, \certain milieus,\ that need addressing; any \educated\ indivudual can see that. But an educated individual would also know that these issues don’t plaugue the entire continent and most certainly would not be advertising such nonsense. This only promotes ignorance and furthers the idea that that beautiful land of gold is nothing but a barbaric land waste. As you put it, there are \lots of animals,\ but in the FORESTS. There are more than enough zoos and safaris in the nations Africas where one can go and, from a distance, safely admire those creatures. Diseases aren’t \rampant,\ only in certain places and are such because those placed in the position to trying to care for their country men are too busy satisfying their greed, and nations like the US which managed to kill off those diseases in their own country a long time ago are far too busy worrying in about how much longer they can further exploit the abundance of natural resources (which is lacking in places like the US) in Africa, while laboring under the false pretence of \charity.\

No wonder children are dying and starving to death; if the US is so advanced (technology, scientifically wise) why aren’t they using their advancement to help rid those part of Africa heavy-laden with issues? People, (Americans especially) need to pull the log out of their own eyes before trying to point out the splinter in their neighbor’s.
