Child mortality: 9.2 million gone

5 November 2008 One Comment

Below is a chart from UNICEF’s Child Info website.  It shows the number of deaths worldwide, just in 2007, for children under the age of 5 years old.  If you didn’t put two and two together already, the chart’s total number is in the title of this post… 9.2 million.  What a shame!

(excuse the childish email) My name is Libby Dowswell and I am currently completing my HSC and conducting my Personal Interest Project as part of the Society and Culture course. I am completing my PIP on What Influences Individuals to Sponsor Overseas Children. The informartion on your site concerning overseas child mortality rates is very interesting and I was wondering if you had any more information concerning this topic? Perhaps some statistics or information about where sponsorship money goes, or how many children are currently recieving some form of sponsorship.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Libby.
